The Mental Game of Poker
« on: November 21, 2011, 09:13:27 PM »
I think alot of you guys are like me in that we all or alot have issues with monkey tilt. I have been working on the mental aspect of my game for years cause when i tilt I just spew and lose a shitload of my BR which I have been working hard on building for previous weeks. Joe has been the recipient of a few k from me on 888, lol your welcome.

This book has been pretty sick. It isnt like more poker psychology books its much different. It is all about approaching poker and the mental aspect of it logically and rationally and working hard at it. It gives you tools and exercises to do to really help get a different perspective on things. I think Clay could use this lol.

Check out the book and the forum. http://jaredtendlerpoker.com/thementalgameofpoker/ the Author Jared Tendler has worked with guys like Leatherass and many other people. He used to be a golf coach and has refined his work for poker players. It has helped me a ton although Im still working on it. Just thought if this can help anyone here id share it.

One of the biggest things I have started doing before sessions is just preparing myself for possible negative outcomes. So when my AA loses to J8 to a 5 bet pre I am somewhat calm. I of course blow my lid still but just not as much as I used to.

Check out the forums to, he is great at responding to questions. If you guys are interested in some of the exercises or have any questions let me know. The book is goign on sale also for xmas i believe so check it out.

I think you're just calmer because Drew's lack of games means less Reid beats coming your way

well finally had a break down and little tilt session on sunday. I busted the tourneys and switched to PLO and was up initially then when i lost my win i got a bit pissed along with  losing with mid set to top and mid pair 3 times and then lost to some draws. just one of those days however wht i didnt do before i started playing was my normal ritual of preparing myself for those beats. I also was probably a bit pissed about the tourneys so maybe didnt need to play.

lesson learned however i did find that my normal monkey tilt was a bit tamer then usual which i s great to know that i am making some progress. I didnt lose the whole roll which is also good and an improvement from before. just goes to show ya gotta keep working on your tilt and mental game issues along with your actual poker game

anyway time to grind and build that BR back up again. christmas break now so free time to play. may just win the sunday million then not have to worry lol

Just got interviewed by Jared Tendler for an hour on www.quadjacks.com about my tilt and mental game issues. The guy is such a genius, usually he charges 1500$ a hour for that. Super stoked I got chosen to be on
